Weft (“we,” “our,” or “the Extension”) is a Chrome extension that replaces your new tab with a personal dashboard. This Privacy Policy explains how your information is handled when you use Weft. By using Weft, you agree to this policy.
By default, everything you add to Weft (tasks, habits, links, notes, layouts, settings, wallpapers and similar) is stored locally in your browser using Chrome’s extension storage. We cannot access it remotely. Any keys or tokens you enter for optional integrations are stored there too. You can export and import backups from Settings.
We collect information only in the situations below.
Weft does not collect or track your browsing history. It does not require an account to use, and we do not use your data to profile you.
We use information to provide and operate Weft, sync and restore your data, process subscriptions and manage access to paid features, understand which features are used, respond to feedback, keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.
Some widgets and integrations work by contacting a third-party service, for example prayer times, sports scores, movie and show information, stock quotes, favicons, online wallpapers, Spotify, GitHub and Twitch. This happens only when you use that feature, and we send only what it needs to work, such as a city name, a search term, or a ticker symbol. We do not send your dashboard to these services.
Credentials you provide for an integration, such as an API key or a sign-in token, are stored on your device and sent only to that provider. For features that use your location, location is read only when you ask for it, once per request.
We also rely on service providers to run Weft, such as backend hosting and storage, payment and subscription management, website hosting and analytics, and the messaging service that receives feedback. They may use information only to provide their services to us.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share information only with the service providers described above, with legal or regulatory authorities where required by law or to protect our rights, users or the public, and with a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of all or part of the service.
Weft asks for browser permissions only to provide features you use, for example reading your clipboard for the optional save-link shortcut, tab access for the Tab Audio widget, and notifications for reminders. The optional Embedded Website widget removes framing restrictions only for the sites you add to it, so they can display inside your dashboard. Weft does not read or transmit the content of embedded pages or your audio.
Local data is removed when you uninstall Weft or clear its data. Synced data is kept on our backend while your account exists, including after sync is turned off or a paid plan ends, so you can restore it later. Items you delete are kept for a short recovery period, then permanently removed. You can delete your account in Settings, which permanently removes your synced data, uploaded wallpaper photos and profile from our backend. Your local dashboard is not affected. Copies may remain briefly in routine backups of our hosting provider after deletion. Payment records are held by our payment provider under its own terms.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections, encryption of stored data by our hosting provider, and access controls. Because your data is stored locally and, if you choose, synced to our backend, its security also depends on your device, browser and account protections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Where applicable law, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of a contract (to provide Weft), your consent (for optional features you turn on), our legitimate interests (such as keeping Weft secure and working), and compliance with legal obligations.
Your information may be stored and processed in countries other than your own, where data protection laws may differ. Where required, we take appropriate steps to protect it.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can do much of this in Settings. Otherwise, contact us at weftlylabs@gmail.com.
Weft is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Weft after an update means you accept the revised policy.
